Firefighters battled a home fire in Green Thursday morning.
Josh Waechter of Douglas County Fire District No. 2 said a garage fire was reported at around 10:20 a.m.at a residence on Rolling Hills Road. Crews from the district and the Winston-Dillard Fire Department responded and found flames coming from bedroom windows behind the garage.
Waechter said firefighters were able to knock down the majority of the fire with an aggressive initial attack from outside the home through the burned-out windows. When additional crews arrived on the scene, firefighters were able to make entry to the home and fully extinguish the blaze. All residents and three dogs were able to escape safely prior to the fire departments arrival.
Waechter said an investigation determined the cause of the fire to be accidental.
Waechter said the fire crew’s quick actions were able to contain the fire to one bedroom and prevent it from spreading to the rest of the home.
The Fire District No. 2 release said residents should check their smoke alarms and keep all heat sources at least three feet away from any combustible items.
