A Roseburg man was jailed for robbery and other charges following an incident on Saturday.
A report from Roseburg Police said 55-year old Steven Birdsell reportedly gave the victim a bicycle the previous day, but decided he wanted it back, causing a fight between the two. At about 9:30 a.m. the pair wrestled in the middle of Fulton Street, near Diamond Lake Boulevard.  Birdsell allegedly ripped out the other man’s hair. They briefly separated until Birdsell reportedly threatened the victim with a knife. A third man witnessed the fight and tried to intervene, but Birdsell allegedly threatened to kill him while was holding the knife.
Birdsell was arrested without incident. Charges included first degree robbery, harassment, two counts of menacing, second degree disorderly conduct and for third degree theft. Bail was set at $393,750.
