May 29, 2020 3:00 p.m.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Potential Outlook for Douglas County and nearby areas due to the rain forecast for Saturday.
Forecasters said significant rises and potential flooding on creeks, streams, and localized urban flooding is expected.
A statement said a significant rainfall event for this time of year will bring moderate to heavy rain to the region. The rain is expected from Saturday morning into Saturday evening. The statement said the concern for flooding is mainly for small creeks, streams, culverts, and urban areas. In addition to the rain, there is a chance of thunderstorms from late Friday night into Saturday morning which could produce locally higher rainfall rates, which could increase the risk for flooding.
Josephine, Jackson, Coos, and Curry counties are included under the Flood Potential Outlook as well.
