Crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association and the Myrtle Creek Rural Fire Department suppressed a small fire Friday morning about five miles east of Myrtle Creek near Pack Saddle Road.
Kyle Reed of DFPA said firefighters arrived at the fire just after 10:00 am. and quickly suppressed the blaze. A preliminary fire investigation indicated the fire may have been caused by an illegally dumped mattress that was lit on fire.
Reed said the Pack Saddle Fire burned approximately 1/100th of an acre.
