AIRCRAFT ACCIDENT VICTIM IDENTIFIED

The victim in Thursday’s aircraft accident has been identified.
A release from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said the Medical Examiner’s Office has presumptively identified the pilot as 77-year old Lee Pauling of Olympia, Washington. Pauling was operating a maroon Calavon gyroplane when it crashed just before 2:15 p.m. on private property in the 2300 block of Glengary Loop Road south of Roseburg. He was declared deceased at the scene. He was the only occupant on board at the time of the accident.
DCSO is working with the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration on the investigation.
No further information is expected to be released, according to DCSO.
