A Roseburg man was cited after allegedly trying to elude police on Tuesday afternoon.
Information from Roseburg Police said at about 3:15 p.m. an officer saw the 40-year old driving on the Interstate Five northbound off-ramp at Garden Valley Boulevard. The report said the officer knew the man was driving while suspended and activated their overhead lights to get through the intersection and conduct a traffic stop. Immediately after that, the suspect reportedly turned right onto Northwest Ellan Street and then cut through two parking lots. The officer caught up to his vehicle at Gaddis Park and saw him running away from it.
The report said the officer ordered the suspect to stop and held him at taser point until he was detained without further incident. While being detained the man was allegedly found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine as well.
He was cited for attempting to elude in a vehicle and on foot and for the drug charge. The man was released after the citation was issued.
