ROSEBURG WOMAN JAILED FOR ARSON

A Roseburg woman was jailed for arson on Monday.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of North Side Road near Sutherlin, at approximately 12:40 p.m.
O’Dell said when deputies arrived the suspect was observed running from a home with a lighter in her hand. Deputies chased her down on foot where a struggle ensued near the burning home. During the struggle, 37-year old Diane Morey, allegedly struck a deputy. She was eventually taken into custody and transported to Mercy Medical Center before going to jail.
Morey was also charged with resisting arrest, harassment, and for a parole violation. She was initially detained without bail.
O’Dell said DCSO was assisted by Oregon State Police arson investigators, the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office, Sutherlin Police, and fire departments in Sutherlin, Oakland and Fair Oaks.
