One person died in a motorhome fire Friday afternoon in the Green district.
A release from Douglas County Fire District No. 2 said firefighters from their district and from the Winston-Dillard Fire District were called out to a reported structure fire on Grange Road just before 12:30 p.m. Crews found an older motorhome with the front half fully involved with fire.
The release said crews were able to knock down the fire with an initial attack using a single hose line, preventing the fires spread to other nearby trailers. The person reporting the fire was unsure if the owner of the RV was home. After a search by firefighters, a victim was located deceased inside.
The News Review is reporting the man was a Vietnam veteran who had lived at the park for several years.
An investigation by the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s office determined the fire to be accidental.
