A Reedsport man died in a single vehicle crash in Winchester Bay on Thursday afternoon.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said dispatchers received a report of the wreck on Salmon Harbor Drive near Lighthouse Road at about 12:40 p.m. O’Dell said responders found an SUV over the embankment, partially in the ocean surf. The driver, 76-year old Donald Withrow was declared deceased at the scene.
Deputies determined the vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason and rolled once before coming to rest. O’Dell said the Douglas County Medical Examiners Office is investigating the wreck.
DCSO was assisted by several agencies at the accident scene.
