Nearly 22 percent of registered voters in Douglas County have cast a ballot in the May Primary Election.
Douglas County Clerk Dan Loomis told News Radio 1240 KQEN that 17,748 ballots have been received as of Wednesday afternoon. Loomis said that’s close to 2.5 percent ahead of the same time in the 2018 primary. Compared to the last presidential election in 2016, participation lags by just over 8 percent.

Loomis said it is too late to mail ballots in and be assured they will be received by the deadline of next Tuesday May 19th at 8:00 p.m. Voters should utilize one of 13 drop boxes which are located around the county. A list of those locations is linked with this story at www.541radio.com:  http://www.co.douglas.or.us/clerk/drop_site_locations.asp
Loomis said on Wednesday, their election boards began the process of separating the voted ballots from their envelopes and secrecy sleeves, in preparation for voted ballots to be electronically scanned on election day.
