Funding to expand COVID-19 testing heading to Oregon, includes a Roseburg based health organization.
A release from Oregon Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden said over $9 million in federal funds are being made available to 30 hospitals, health facilities and county governments throughout the state.
The release said the funding will go to expand the range of testing and testing activities to best address the needs of the local communities. That includes the purchase of personal protective equipment, training for staff, outreach, procurement and administration of tests, laboratory services, notifying identified contacts of infected patients of their exposure to COVID-19 and the expansion of walk-up or drive-up testing capacities.
The funding was allocated by the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act and is being distributed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Adapt is receiving nearly $175,000 of those funds. It is the only location in Douglas County listed as getting a share of the funds.
