The Britt Festival in Jacksonville has postponed its 2020 season until 2021.
The announcement came on the heels of Governor Kate Brown’s recent mandate, canceling all large gatherings, including concerts or large sporting events, through at least September of this year.
A release from Britt, said since February the organization has been working with artists’ management to determine how to best proceed, including opportunities to rebook these performers next year. The release said many of the artists in the 2020 lineup, including some that had not yet been announced, will join the 2021 lineup instead.
The organization plans to bring music, inspiration and humanity into people’s home via BrittVids, an online series that will showcase musicians, artists, and storytellers sharing their craft in fun and engaging videos. The release said BrittVids will include members of the Britt Festival Orchestra, friends of Britt’s education programs, and popular local musicians. New videos will be posted every Tuesday and Thursday on the organization’s YouTube, Facebook and Instagram pages.
Ticketholders are asked to consider donating their tickets back to Britt, or to hold onto them for use next year if the concert they had planned to see has been rescheduled. The release said being a non-profit organization, donating tickets held, taking credits, or holding onto tickets “is an investment in the community”.
Refunds or credits need to be requested by the end of June. Go to: https://www.brittfest.org/ for more information.
