A Lookingglass man was taken to the hospital Monday afternoon, following an accidental shooting and after an incident with deputies earlier that day.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at 1:30 a.m. deputies were sent to a residence in the 6,000 block of Lookingglass Road, for a reported disturbance involving a 36-year old man.
O’Dell said when deputies arrived, they learned the man had previously made statements about being “locked, loaded and ready to go”. Deputies were able to negotiate with the man and determined that no crime had occurred.
At 3:30 pm. deputies were dispatched to the same address for a report that the man had accidently shot himself in the foot. Multiple law enforcement officers from DCSO, Winston Police and the Oregon State Police responded to the scene.
O’Dell said the man was found to be suffering from an accidental gunshot wound. He was taken to Mercy Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
