Governor Kate Brown released more information about the limited opening of State parks and outdoor recreational areas.
A release from Brown said it is essential that Oregonians recreate responsibly to protect the health, wellness, and safety of themselves and others in local communities. Brown said it was critical that the health and safety of staff, volunteers and the public be ensured.
The release said the reopening of outdoor recreation areas will be a phased approach. Columbia River Gorge parks and recreation areas, as well as coastal areas that are not yet ready to welcome visitors back, will remain closed.
Brown’s release mirrored information released by state parks officials regarding preparations before going to parks and acting safely while there, including social distancing guidelines. It also asked residents to remember that it is wildfire season and that fires should not be started in undesignated areas.
