Property owners in Douglas County are reminded that the deadline for the third trimester property tax payment is May 15th.
A release from The Douglas County Tax Collection Office said the payment must be postmarked by that date to avoid interest and penalties. The release said the State of Oregon has not extended the property tax due dates and the County does not have the authority to do so.
While the Douglas County Courthouse has reopened, very strict social distancing procedures are in place for employees and the visiting public. Those who come to the courthouse are asked to wear a mask and use sanitizer.
The Tax Collection Office is in room 205 of the courthouse. It is open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There is also a “Tax Drop Box” located in the hallway outside the office. A Tax payment drop box is outside the courthouse at the bottom of the steps.
Payments can also be made online at www.co.douglas.or.us or via U.S. Mail.
