Oregonians needing state assistance can apply for it from home.
An update from the Oregon Department of Human Services said due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Oregonians are facing unprecedented economic instability and food insecurity.
The update said while many Department of Human Services offices are still open to the public, residents are encouraged to apply online: https://govstatus.egov.com/or-dhs-benefits. Staff said the online application does experience heavy traffic from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., which causes it to be unavailable intermittently. Those needing help should try to apply early in the morning or in the late evening hours.
Those who cannot complete the online application, should call a DHS office first. Offices have implemented physical distancing measures and may be able to help by phone.
