One person was taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle wreck in Sutherlin Friday afternoon.
Captain Kurt Sorenson of the Sutherlin Police said at about 2:30 p.m. SPD along with other agencies responded to the accident in the 500 block of South Calapooia. Sorenson said an SUV driven by a 40-year Sutherlin man was southbound on Calapooia when it slowed to make a right hand turn into the Sutherlin Business Park. A van driven by a 25-year old Roseburg man rear ended the first vehicle, causing it to lurch forward and crash into a building at that location. The second driver said he didn’t see the first vehicle in front of him.
The SUV hit was occupied by the driver and two passengers including a three-year old child. The child was taken to Mercy Medical Center as a precaution.
The driver who caused the wreck was cited for careless driving and following too close.
