Ballots are going out for the May Primary Election in Douglas County.
Along with deciding on primary candidates for a number of races, a few local measures are on the ballot:
*Voters in the Roseburg School District will consider a $94 million bond levy. If approved, funds would go for safety and security improvements district wide, renovation projects, building new multi-purpose gymnasiums at some elementary schools, and replacing the Heritage building at Roseburg High with a new building.
*Voters in the Glendale School District will vote on a $1.88 million bond levy. Money would go to capital costs, construction, renovations and updating facilities in the district, if approved.
*Voters in Canyonville will decide on whether to annex the City into the Oregon State University Extension Service District. If approved, property owners would pay a maximum tax rate of 65 cents per $1,000 of assessed value.
Ballots are due back by 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday May 19th. They can be mailed in, or placed in a number of drop box sites around the county. A list of those sites is listed on the county web site: http://www.co.douglas.or.us/clerk/drop_site_locations.asp.
