During this time of social distancing, crews with Pacific Power and their contractors continue to work at maintaining and protecting the electrical grid throughout the Pacific Northwest.
A release from the utility said routine maintenance schedules have been modified to minimize any work that could cause large service interruptions. Field employees and contractors are also clearing trees and plants away from poles and lines as part of the utility’s ongoing wildfire safety plan. The release said often this work is on or near customer property and could requires conversations with customers.
While routine in normal times, those contacts can be challenging now as customers are concerned with unknown people working close to their homes. David Lucas, vice president of operations for Pacific Power, said there have been instances in the last few weeks where property owners have threatened employees and contractors working for the utility. Lucas said residents with questions about individuals working on or near their property should call Pacific Power at 888-221-7070.
