POLICE SEEKING MAN WHO ELUDED IN HIGH-SPEED CHASE WEDNESDAY

Sutherlin Police are seeking a man who eluded officers in a high-speed chase on Wednesday.
Police Chief Troy Mills said at about 7:45 a.m. an officer responded to a reckless driving complaint. A sedan was reported to be passing vehicles and driving at a high rate of speed on Nonpareil Road heading west in to Sutherlin. The driver was identified as 31-year old Dillan Prudhomme. Mills says the man is well known to Sutherlin officers for his attempts to elude and as having a suspended driver’s license.
As police arrived in the eastern area of Central Avenue, the vehicle was seen turning south onto Waite Street.
An officer initiated a traffic stop but the vehicle accelerated and turned east onto Southside Road toward Nonpareil Road. Additional officers arrived ahead of the pursuit and were able to deploy spike strips in the 1500 block of Southside Road, but they were not successful in stopping the vehicle. Prudhomme then turned from Southside Road onto Nonpareil Road, heading east.
Mills said due to the man’s poor driving skills and disregard for the safety of the public, the pursuit was terminated. Prudhomme was last seen driving east at a high rate of speed in the 4000 block of Nonpareil.
Mills described Prudhomme as a known transient and said he has an extensive history of motor vehicle crimes. The vehicle he was driving is a 2006 dark silver BMW with California plate 7AMP981. The vehicle is missing the driver’s side front fender and right rear brake light.
