ROSEBURG SUPERINTENDENT REACTS TO GOVERNOR'S CLOSURE ANNOUNCEMENT

With the announcement by Oregon Governor Kate Brown on Wednesday afternoon, that in-person classes will end for the school year, with distance learning continuing, Roseburg Public Schools Superintendent Jarod Cordon issued his reaction.
In a statement for News Radio 1240 KQEN, Cordon said “this decision was made in an effort to prioritize the health and safety of our students, our staff, and our community”. Cordon said they are prioritizing conversations with our parents and students of the Class of 2020 to discuss graduation. Cordon said “we have developed a plan to support all students and families with meals, technology and ongoing learning opportunities throughout this closure”. Cordon said the district will continue to provide childcare for health professionals and first responders.
Cordon said more information could be expected soon.
