A new litter of cheetah cubs was born recently at Wildlife Safari.
Executive Director Dan Van Slyke said “with the spring comes new babies and cheetah cubs are always exciting”.
The non-profit game park in Winston is the most successful breeding facility for cheetahs in the western hemisphere and welcomed the new litter on the morning of Saturday March 28th. Van Slyke said the cubs are doing well and will help contribute diverse genetics to the captive breeding population.

A release said Wildlife Safari’s accreditation with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, means they are one of the top 10% of zoological institutions in the United States. Cheetahs from the park will enter breeding populations across the country.
Van Slyke said the cub’s mother, Delta, is a first-time cheetah mother and while cheetahs are notoriously bad mothers who struggle with rearing the cubs, Delta is “doing very well with her litter”.
People can see the cheetah cubs every Monday at 11:00 a.m. during live broadcasts on the park’s Facebook page. Wildlife Safari’s drive-through remains open to the public.
Pictures of the new cheetah cubs are posted with this story at www.541radio.com.
