The Alek Skarlatos for Congress campaign has announced that it has received the endorsements of Senator Ted Cruz and Congressman Dan Crenshaw.
Skarlatos is seeking the Republican nomination in Oregon’s 4th Congressional District and is hoping to face incumbent Democratic Congressman Peter DeFazio in November.
A release said Skarlatos is “honored to have received the endorsements”. He said he shares the commitment that Cruz and Crenshaw have to “uphold American values”.
Skarlatos is a former member of Charlie Company in the National Guard. He is best known for, along with four others, stopping an armed terrorist on a Paris-bound train in August of 2015. That act earned him a number of awards and medals and led to his writing a book about the incident. He also starred as himself in the movie, “The 15:17 to Paris”, which was directed by Clint Eastwood.
Skarlatos is facing Eugene resident Nelson Ljih in the May Primary Election.
