Dozens of first responders were part of a procession around the campus of Mercy Medical Center on Friday night.

Sergeant Jeff Eichenbusch of the Roseburg Police said the event was held to show support for the hospital staff and “to recognize the incredible work they are doing through these trying times”. Eichenbusch said members of law enforcement, fire department personnel and others are “proud of our community and the way we always come together to work hard, and get through difficult times as a team”.

The News Review reported that there were close to 80 vehicles in the procession as it went from the parking lot by Big 5 Sporting Goods and crossed Stewart Parkway and headed down Mercy Drive. With lights flashing, the convoy passed employees who gathered along the sidewalks and by both the north patient entrance and the emergency entrance.

Agencies participating included the Oregon State Police, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, police departments from Roseburg, Sutherlin, Winston and Myrtle Creek, the Roseburg Fire Department, Douglas County Fire District No.2, and others.
