The leader of the Winston-Dillard Water District says their drinking water is safe, in spite of a “fake” notice of water disruption, which appears to be an April Fool’s day joke.
District Manager Landon Rainwater said the notice was posted at one home and then on a social media site on Wednesday.
Rainwater said the district does not find the incident humorous in any way, “especially under the current circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic”.
Rainwater said the Winston-Dillard Water District takes pride in providing the community with safe, and reliable drinking water. He said the current water treatment system meets and exceeds all current water treatment standards through its filtration and disinfection systems.
Rainwater said COVID-19 has not been found in any public drinking water supply. He said the district would notify the public of any drinking water contamination by contacting the news media, through social medical and by contacting Douglas County Emergency Communications.
