UNITED WAY GRANTS $10,000 TO SALVATION ARMY

April 1, 2020 3:35 a.m.
Greater Douglas United Way has granted $10,000 to the Salvation Army from their COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund.
Executive Director Bryan Trenkle said United Way knows the Salvation Army has seen an increase in requests for rental and utility assistance, fuel assistance and food box requests, so it was critical that they receive the much-needed funds at this time. Trenkle said the extra funds will help meet the increase in requests the agency is currently dealing with.
A United Way release said the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund was established to help the local community with urgent needs as a result of the pandemic. 100% of all funds will stay local and provide support to the community’s organizations and individuals in need due to the situation. To date over $50,000 has been raised, with $20,000 being given out.
Those who want to help can make an online donation at www.gduway.org. Checks can be mailed to 702 Southeast Jackson in Roseburg, 97470. Donations are also being accepted at any branch of Banner Bank.
Trenkle said Greater Douglas United Way will not charge any administrative expense on this fund.
