The closure of the Umpqua River Bridge in Reedsport scheduled for Wednesday night, has been postponed. Dan Latham of the Oregon Department of Transportation said it will be pushed back until Monday night April 27th from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
Latham said the six-hour closure will allow contractors to replace one of two damaged crossbeams. Another nighttime closure of the bridge is tentatively planned for April 22nd.
U.S. 101 motorists can expect two-weeks of daytime single-lane closures on the bridge as contractors repair other damaged sections of steel. The work will begin on April 6th with flaggers providing traffic control.
