As the closure of Oregon schools continues, teachers in the South Umpqua School District, are providing supplemental education and learning supports to students.
Information from Superintendent Kate McLaughlin said on Tuesday, teachers are continuing to call students and families to survey student resources and need and to schedule regular check-in times. McLaughlin said teachers will be asking if students have access to or need a computer or device and internet service with adequate data.
Teachers are providing students and families with information about accessing breakfast and lunch food service. Teachers and support staff are putting together resource packets for students to practice at home.
Materials will be distributed to families at each school on Thursday, via a “Grab and Go” style. Times will be determined and will be communicated to students and families.
Friday through April 28th teachers will maintain regular check-in times with students each week and provide remote support via phone or online as needed.
