In response to this week’s Executive Order from Oregon Governor Kate Brown, Crater Lake National Park has closed to all visitors until further notice.
A release from Marsha McCabe at the National Park Service said the closure will be enforced 24-hours a day, 7 days a week and no access to the park is permitted. McCabe said the only exception is Oregon State Highway 62 through the southern end of the park, which will remain open for travel.
The release said the National Park Service staff is working with federal, state, and local authorities to closely monitor COVID-19. McCabe said the public will be notified when full operations are resumed. Park rangers remain on duty to protect the parks, and normal rules and regulations apply.
The release said the NPS encourages people to take advantage of the many digital tools available to explore the park, including the seasonal webcams: https://www.nps.gov/crla/learn/photosmultimedia/webcams.htm
Updates on NPS operations will be posted at www.nps.gov/coronavirus.
