The Umpqua Community Action Network and the Umpqua Public Transportation District have announced that the operation of the UTrans bus system will be transitioning from UCAN to UPTD on May first.
A release from UPTD said this past year, both agencies have worked to establish the new district. UPTD Board Chair Mike Baker said “from the outset, its has been the goal of UPTD to assume operations of UTrans directly, and this action corresponds with the transition of key administrative staff from UCAN to the District”.
UCAN’s Executive Director Shaun Pritchard said his agency is glad to have provided public transit service to Douglas County residents when they were asked to do so. He said he supports the change now that the District has a readiness to take on operations. He said both agencies are working together to ensure that UTrans customers continue to have a quality public transit option in Douglas County. The release said customers should see no change in services during the transition.
