Tuesday morning the Umpqua Community College Board of Education, declared that emergency conditions exist due to COVID-19.
The move authorizes President Deborah Thatcher to take actions necessary to ensure the continuation of education and the health and safety of students and staff at college sites. That could include the relocation of students and staff, provision of alternative education program options, and making needed alterations, repairs or improvement to college property.
Spokesperson Tiffany Coleman said under normal circumstances those decisions would come to the Board for approval.
The resolution approved references the State of Emergency in Oregon recently declared by Governor Kate Brown.
