TWO DEAD, WINSTON MAN JAILED FOR MURDER

A Winston man is in jail charged with murder, and the Douglas County Major Crimes Team is investigating a shooting that left two men dead early Sunday.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said just before 2:00 a.m. 911 dispatchers received multiple reports of gunfire heard in the area of Ford Street in Winston. Another caller reported finding two on the ground bleed at 280 Ford Street.
O’Dell said law enforcement from Winston Police, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon State Police responded to the scene. The two victims, whose names are being withheld at this time, were found to be suffering from gunshot wounds and died at the scene.
Just before 2:30 a.m. dispatchers received a call that a man wished to turn himself in regarding the shooting. Officers contacted 34-year old Savino David DeSantiago, who was arrested.
The Douglas County Major Crimes Team was activated and is leading the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the DCSO Investigations Division at 440-4458.
DeSantiago is detained without bail.
