Due to the statewide school closure through the end of the month, officials with the Roseburg School District are offering meals for children during the break, and have made some scheduling changes.
Superintendent Jared Cordon said breakfast will be offered at all school locations from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Lunch will be available from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Lunches will also be available at these sites:
*Saddle Butte Mobile Manor from 11:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
*Eastwood Park from 11:25 a.m. to 11:40 a.m.
*Stewart Park from 11:55 a.m. to 12:25 p.m.
*Rose School from 12:40 p.m. to 12:55 p.m.
Cordon said during the closure, all school-based athletic events and extracurricular practices and competitions are cancelled. He said to ensure the continued safety of students, staff and the community, extensive cleaning of district facilities will take place prior to April 1st.
Cordon said in an effort to maximize student learning, the District calendar has been adjusted and Friday April 3rd will now be a regular school day instead of a teacher grading day. Check the updated district calendar at www.roseburg.k12.or.us.
Other districts are offering meals as well:
Sutherlin School District: Grab & Go breakfast and lunch meals will be provided at no charge for children 18 and under during the school closure. Meals will be served Monday through Friday at West Intermediate School with Breakfast served from 7:30 am -8:30 am, and lunch served 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Glide School District: Free Grab & Go breakfast and lunches will be offered to all GSD students at the GMS/GHS cafeteria from 9:00 am – 11:00 am, from March 16-19 and March 30-31. If you live in the Peel Store or the Idleyld Store area, please look for the Grab and Go breakfast and lunches around the same times. There will be no breakfast or lunches offered during spring break.
Yoncalla School District: Free Grab & Go sack lunches will be offered to District students from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm March 16-19. The lunches will be handed out front of the Early Learning Center at the Yoncalla Elementary School.
North Douglas School District: Monday-Friday (3/16-3/20) from 11:00-1:00 North Douglas School District students are welcome to a free ‘to-go’ meal provided by the North Douglas Elementary Middle School cafeteria. Meals can be picked up in front of the main office.
Winston-Dillard School District: Free Grab & Go Meals for all kids ages 1 to 18. Look for the yellow Lunch Box Express Van at Winston area schools! Click here for a link to the full schedule Served Mon-Thurs. No Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays.
