A Community Preparedness Fair is set for May in Roseburg.
“Ready Together” will be hosted Pacific Power, the Douglas Electric Cooperative, Avista Gas and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It will be held at the church at 2001 West Bertha Avenue, just south of West Harvard on Saturday May 16th.
Those attending will be able to learn neighborhood mapping and radio communications, water and food storage and preparation, youth safety, first aid and emergency response teams, and other topics.
Organizers said the event will be an opportunity for the Douglas County community to come together to offer a unified and proactive response to unexpected events and natural disasters including snowstorms, earthquakes, floods and more.
Check the Pacific Power Facebook page for more information about the event.
Sam Carter of Pacific Power and Todd Munsey of Douglas Electric Cooperative talked about last year’s big snow event and getting prepared for the unexpected on Inside Douglas County on News Radio 1240 KQEN. That interview is a KQEN podcast at www.541radio.com.
