SUTHERLIN MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEX CRIMES

A Sutherlin man has been jailed for child sex crimes.
Captain Kurt Sorenson of the Sutherlin Police said Thursday night at about 9:00 p.m. 30-year old Todd Compton was arrested at a local restaurant.
Compton was charged first and second degree counts of online sexual corruption of a child, and for five counts of luring a minor. Sorenson said due to the nature and sensitively of the crime committed and the ongoing investigation, the SPD is not able to release information about how the alleged crimes were committed.
Compton was also held for a probation violation and was detained without bail.
Sorenson said parents are strongly encouraged to monitor their children’s use of smart phones, tablets and other devices used to access the internet and social media apps.
