Crews from multiple agencies rescued three men on the North Umpqua River, after a drift boat began taking on water Tuesday morning.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 11:00 a.m. a 911 call came in reporting the incident above Browns Bridge in the middle of Davis Rapids, in an area known as sunburn alley.
The report said staff from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and Douglas County Fire District No. 2 responded to the scene. Two clients, 65-year old Garrett Okumura and 77-year old Jim Molinari, both of California, and the guide, 45-year old John Parrish of Malin, were removed from the boat by the fire district staff. No one was injured.

The report said later the DCSO Marine Patrol, along with Fish and Wildlife troopers from Oregon State Police, re-floated the area and transported the boat to a ramp downstream where the owner was able to retrieve it.
The report said property owners allowed rescuers access to the river through their property, which helped in allowing the rescue to take place.
