Due to winter weather, work has slowed on the Roberts Mountain climbing lanes and paving project on Interstate Five, south of Roseburg.
Information from the Oregon Department of Transportation, said work involves paving five miles of the freeway and building climbing lanes on both the northbound and southbound approach to Roberts Mountain. The contractor has postponed excavation and some other work until ground conditions improve this spring.
Dan Latham of ODOT told News Radio 1240 KQEN that some drilling and erosion control work is taking place off the side of the freeway. The speed limit is reduced to 55 miles per hour in the southbound direction. The southbound shoulder is closed in this area. Trucks should use the right lane in both the northbound and southbound directions.
Construction will continue until summer of 2021.
