Two wanted men are in custody including one that was tracked down by K9 Axel on Wednesday.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said shortly before 10:30 a.m. deputies and officers from the Sutherlin Police Department went to a residence in the 100 block of South Avenue looking for 25-year old Billy Wells, and 23-year old Johnny Wells. O’Dell said when deputies arrived, Johnny fled from the home on foot. A perimeter was set up to contain the area as deputies lost sight of the suspect.
Billy Wells was found hiding inside the house, and was taken into custody by Sutherlin Police, without incident.
Roseburg Police K9 Axel was sent to help deputies. K9 Axel began tracking and quickly led officers to Johnny, who failed to comply with commands and was apprehended by Axel, until deputies could take the man into custody. He was on property in the 12,000 block of Driver Valley Road.
Johnny Wells was charged with third degree escape, criminal trespass and for a warrant. Billy Wells was detained for two warrants. Both were detained without bail.
