Two people have been charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, following an investigation by the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team.
Lieutenant Rick McArthur told News Radio 1240 KQEN that back on December 27th of last year, DINT and DCSO were jointly involved in a short vehicle pursuit that started in Yoncalla and ended near Metz Hill, when the vehicle being chased went out of control and crashed into a ditch and rolled. The vehicle was driven by 37-year old Jammie Hamlin of Roseburg, and the passenger was 31-year old Noah Kuro, of Friday Harbor, Washington. They were both taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center before being sent to jail.
McArthur said a handgun was found at the scene of the crash, but no one was initially charged with any crimes relating to the firearm. He said further investigation over the next several weeks revealed evidence that both people possessed the firearm in the hours leading up to the pursuit and crash. Last Friday, Kuro was arrested and taken to jail on the charge. Bail was initially set at $50,000. Hamlin was also charged, but was already in custody on previous charges.
