Two non-injury accidents took place in the same intersection in a three-hour period on Tuesday.
Information from the Roseburg Police said just before 12:30 p.m. a 21-year Roseburg man was traveling west on Garden Valley as he approached the intersection with Mulholland. The man claimed he dropped the lid to his water bottle and had reached to the floor to retrieve it. A 37-year old Winston man was traveling north on the freeway off-ramp and had the green light to travel straight onto Mulholland.
The first driver reportedly did not stop for his red light and ran into the passenger wheel of the second vehicle. The report said the first vehicle appeared to be totaled. The second vehicle spun 180 degrees and suffered significant damage, but still was drivable.
The man who caused the wreck was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device and for driving uninsured.
At about 3:30 p.m. a 62-year old man from Roseburg was traveling west on Garden Valley near the intersection, and had stopped for traffic in front of him. A 33-year old Roseburg woman was behind the first vehicle and also stopped. A 42-year old man from Idleyld Park, said he was distracted and looked up Mulholland to the north, and did not see the traffic stopped in front of him.
The report said when the third driver looked forward, he saw the traffic, but was unable to stop in time. The third vehicle ran into the second vehicle, which then ran into the first one. No one was injured. The first two vehicles sustained significant damage, but could be driven from the scene.
The man who caused the pileup was cited for following too closely.
