A woman was jailed after a trespass and fire incident on Thursday.
Information from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 8:00 a.m. a North Douglas Fire District crew was dispatched for a smoke investigation under a railroad trestle near the intersection of Eagle Valley and Elkhead. The report said that 29-year old Kristi Wilburn was trespassing on railroad property next to Thorp Lumber and had allegedly started a fire under the trestle.
Fire fighters put the fire out as there was a risk of the trestle starting on fire as well. Wilburn was found not far form the scene and was taken into custody.
She was initially charged with first degree trespass, second degree disorderly conduct and for depositing trash within 100 yards of the water. Bail was set at $17,500.
