MAN JAILED FOLLOWING STORE INCIDENT

A Roseburg man was jailed following incidents at Safeway on Thursday afternoon.
A report from the Roseburg Police said at 2:20 p.m. 44-year old Jose Garcia entered the store and selected a beer. The man allegedly drank the beer and never made any attempt to pay for it. He was asked to leave numerous times but refused. The report said employees were asking him to leave and during that time he grabbed a woman by her hair and pulled her to the ground.
The man was detained by store staff, who held him until police arrived.
A short time after his arrest, a woman contacted police and said Garcia had thrown a sign at her car while in the parking lot at Safeway. The damage estimated was nearly $650 according to the victim.
Garcia was charged with criminal mischief, harassment, second-degree criminal trespass and third-degree theft. He was initially detained on $11,250 bail.
