The City of Roseburg Parks and Recreation Department will hold a community meeting Wednesday night to discuss a potential trail system at Sunshine Park.
Parks Program Manager Kris Ammerman said staff wants to enhance the park’s offerings by developing a trail system that hikers, bikers, and walkers can enjoy. He said staff is looking forward to hearing feedback from the public on this step to improve the recreational opportunities at the park.
The city is working with a trail construction firm, who has drafted design concepts for a trail system located on roughly 40 acres of land at the park. At the meeting, staff will discuss the designs and gather input from attendees.
Sunshine Park is located nearly five miles east of downtown Roseburg off of Diamond Lake Boulevard. The 90-acre park has two baseball fields, three softball fields, two picnic pavilions and a playground. The park was developed in 2001.
The meeting will be held in the Ford Room of the Roseburg Public Library beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Kris Ammerman talked about the plans and about the meeting on the Morning Conversation today on News Radio 1240 KQEN. That interview is a KQEN Podcast at www.541radio.com
