The Douglas Education Service District and the Roseburg Public Library combine community resources to begin a five-part series on mental health starting next week.
Organizers said each session will provide resources and information and is open to the public so they can learn and ask questions. The series will be offered on the second Tuesday of each month starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Deer Creek Room at the library.
*February 13th, Barb Hofford, an RN with the Douglas ESD, will present, “Ending the Silence”. It’s a presentation from the National Alliance on Mental Illness on how to recognize signs of mental health concerns and suicide in loved ones.
*March 12th, Celeste Huffaker, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with Douglas ESD, will present “Trauma Basics and Resilience”. Its an overview of understanding the impact of trauma on the brain, body and health. A discussion about the importance of self-care and building resilience will be covered as well.
*April 9th, Candy Kirby of Adapt will have a presentation on recognizing substance use in teens and how to access services.
