Two people were hurt Friday afternoon and one man was later arrested, in what is being investigated as a felony hit and run case.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 4:40 p.m. an unknown vehicle hit two people who were riding on a motorcycle near the intersection of Garden Valley Road and Upper Cleveland Rapids Road, west of Roseburg.
The report said the vehicle hit them from behind and continued heading towards Roseburg. Both people were taken to Mercy Medical Center. One had minor injuries while the second had a compound fractured elbow.
The driver did not remember what kind of vehicle he was hit by, only that it had been following him since the intersection of Hubbard Creek Road and Garden Valley Road. The report said the suspect vehicle appeared to be a maroon 1990s-2000 GM product, likely an SUV or a pickup. Evidence from the offending vehicle was located at the scene.
On Saturday, authorities arrested 24-year old Gerardo Carillo-Pineda. He was initially charged with failure to perform the duties of a driver to injured persons, and for second degree assault. He was jailed on $350,000 bail.
