A 26-year old man was jailed on drug charges following his arrest by the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team on Monday night.
Lieutenant Rick McArthur told News Radio 1240 KQEN that DINT staff, with assistance by deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a traffic stop in the 700 block of Northwest Garden Valley at approximately 8:00 p.m. McArthur said the occupants of the vehicle were thought to be involved with narcotics related crimes.
The driver, Sylas Fain and a passenger were detained. A search of the vehicle revealed lots of drug related evidence but only user amounts of heroin, methamphetamine and suboxone. McArthur said DINT followed up with a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Southeast Darrell in Winston. That search also allegedly revealed evidence of drug related crimes, and small amounts of meth and heroin.
Fain was charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine, heroin, and a schedule-II controlled substance. He was also held for failure to register as a sex offender.
The passenger was released with no charges. The investigation is continuing. Officers from Roseburg and Winston Police and troopers from Oregon State Police also assisted in the arrest.
