The Roseburg City Council has a busy agenda for its first meeting of 2020 Monday night.
Mayor Larry Rich will share the State of the City address, covering things that have taken place in City government in the past year. Rich told News Radio 1240 KQEN that his comments will last for about 15 minutes.
The council will select a new Council President for this year. Longtime councilor Tom Ryan recently submitted his resignation from the council as he prepares to travel during retirement. The council will have to formally accept his resignation and begin the process to fill his Ward 2, Position 2 seat.
Mayor Rich will announce his selection of Commission chairs for the new year. Councilors lead each of the City commissions. The council will also vote on whether to re-appoint a number of commission members whose terms have expired.
The council will also formally vote on adopting its goals for 2020 through 2022. The decision comes following a series of meetings in recent weeks.
New Public Works Director Brice Perkins will be introduced. He takes over the department following Nikki Messenger’s move from leading the department to becoming City Manager a few months ago. Perkins comes from working for the City of Medford as Assistant Public Works Director.
The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the council chambers.
