Officials with the Oregon Department of Transportation are urging drivers to be prepared for winter weather.
Gary Warner of ODOT said snow, cold, wind and high tides may conspire to create extremely hazardous traveling conditions throughout much of southwest Oregon.
Warner said high tides and tidal flooding are expected along the coastline. Drivers should be aware of possible water on roadways, especially in low-lying areas such as Coos Bay and Charleston.
Heavy snow is forecast for the Cascades along with blizzard conditions. Low elevation snow is also expected across southwest interior valleys.
Warner said ODOT wants travelers to think twice before trying to drive over mountain passes which are expected to get several feet of snow over the weekend, especially in the Diamond Lake and Crater Lake areas.
