WINTER STORM WARNING FOR CRATER LAKE, DIAMOND LAKE

January 10, 2020 4:10 a.m.
A Winter Storm Warning for Crater Lake, Diamond Lake and surrounding areas takes effect starting Friday afternoon.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford said heavy snow is expected with accumulations of one to two feet. Winds are expected to gust up to 45 miles per hour. The Warning area includes all of the southern and south-central Oregon Cascades and the Siskiyou Mountains.
Forecasters said travel could be very difficult to impossible. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. A combination of heavy snow and strong winds may cause near blizzard conditions at times.
Those who must travel should keep tire chains, a flashlight, blankets, food, water, medications and a fully charged phone with them.
The Warning will be in place from 4:00 p.m. Friday through 10:00 p.m. Saturday.
