SUTHERLIN MAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING ALTERCATION

January 10, 2020 3:35 a.m.
A Sutherlin man was arrested following an altercation on Wednesday night.
Captain Kurt Sorenson of the Sutherlin Police Department said that 29-year old Rodney Gott allegedly entered the residence of a woman known to him on North Umatilla and the incident ensued. Sorenson said the victim reportedly attempted to use her phone to call 911 but Gott took it away from her to keep her from calling for help. A neighbor called police and reported screaming coming from inside the residence, according to Sorenson.
Officers were dispatched to the home at about 10:20 p.m. and found the suspect walking out the front door of the residence. He was held for interfering with making a police report, for harassment and for second degree criminal trespass.
Gott was initially detained on $10,000 bail.
